Harvesting Vibrational Energy with PZT Thin Films

06-12-2010

The 10th International Workshop on Micro and Nanotechnology for Power Generation and Energy Conversion Applications was held from 30 November to 3 December 2010. Both conference and symposium were held in Leuven, Belgium and co-organized by IMEC. SolMateS participated in this meeting with a presentation and a small booth showing its PZT capabilities. Asia was well represented, with attendance from Japan, China and Korea. The conference's central theme was autonomous sensors, whose main goal is to generate powers between 0.1-1mW. This is sufficient power for wireless communication as well as for energy harvesting. Applications can be found in areas where it is difficult to apply batteries. The next PowerMEMS 2011 meeting will be held in Korea.
