Antireflective and reflective coatings for polymer optics
Glass optics are applied in many different applications and markets. Compared to glass  polymer-optics have several specific advantages. Polymer optics such as lenses, beam splitters and mirrors are lighter compared to glass and can be be easily machined. The latter is an advantage if complex optical designs are needed, for example in aspherical configurations. Polymers give optical designers a new range of opportunities. Since high quality coatings can also be deposited on polymers there are no additional barriers to use polymer instead of glass optics. To deposit these new coating solutions on optics with a diameter up to 200mm SolMateS has a developed a unique deposition facility.

SolMateS OPTICS has different partners in several fields supporting them with optical knowledge and hardware development. Coating polymer optics up to 200mm is done in a joint-venture founded by SolMateS, Sumipro and Dineo called Sumipro Coatings BV which is currently preferred supplier of Thales.
